Integral underlying supporting structure supports the roof ridge ventilator above a sloping roof surfaces (5, 5) and includes an end wall (19) on opposite sides of the roof ridge ventilator. A series of upwardly facing vents (25) are provided in the vicinity of each wall. An air deflector (35) extends between each end wall and the upwardly facing vents to direct wind and wind driven water flowing upwardly along a sloping roof surface to follow a path above and over the upwardly facing vents, while also creating a negative pressure differential above the upwardly facing vents to assist in ventilating air beneath the roof.
