<p>PURPOSE:To reduce a load on a power supply and extend the lie of a thermal head by dividing the strobe period of each zone of a thermal head into substrobe periods and generating a substrobe pulse of small pulse width during the period to that a thermal element for each zone. CONSTITUTION:A strobe application time T is divided into three substrobe periods T1, during which heat generating elements for zones are heated by three substrobe pulses. These substrobe pulses correspond to required print data for each zone and are applied to the zones simultaneously. After this, required print data is entered in a data buffer 7 from a host computer 9 by a latch signal. Next, the heat generating element for each zone of the heat generation part of a thermal head 11 is heated with the other elements by each synchronized substrobe pulse corresponding to print data simultaneously. Further, required data which indicate the bar code or article name are printed on labels which are transported in an orthogonal direction with a direction in which the heat generating elements are aligned in the heat generation part.</p> |
