PURPOSE:To improve adhesion properties of carbon fiber to matrix resin by oxidizing carbon fiber so as amount of oxygen-containing functional group on the surface of the carbon fiber to be more than specific value and electrolyzing in aqueous solution of hydroxyl group or amino group-containing specific compound. CONSTITUTION:Carbon fiber is subjected to oxidizing treatment so as amount of oxygen-containing functional group on the surface of said carbon fiber determined by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy to be >=0.07. Next, resultant fiber is subjected to electrolyzing treatment between said carbon fiber as anode and opposite electrode in an aqueous solution of hydroxyl group-containing aromatic compound expressed by formula I (X is alkyl, alkoxy, carboxy or functional group having C-C double bond; n is 1-4) or amino group-containing aromatic compound expressed by formula II (m is 1-4). Concentration of said compound in the electrolyzing solution is 0.01-15wt.%, preferably 0.1-10wt.%. |
