PURPOSE:To control the horizontal force of an operating roll of small diameter and to facilitate hot sheet rolling by providing an offset variable device to an intermediate roll between an upper operating roll of small diameter and a reinforcing roll in the upper and lower operating rolls of small and large diameters of a five high mill. CONSTITUTION:In the five high mill, a horizontal force Ft acts to the direction of the outlet side of the operating roll 5 of small diameter on account of the torque unbalance of the upper and lower operating rolls 5,4. The offset variable device composed of a worm jack device 7 and hydraulic cylinder device 8 is provided in a bearing box 6 of the intermediate roll 3. The axis C1 of the intermediate roll 3 is offset from the axis Cr of the operating roll 5 to the direction of the outlet side. Then, a horizontal force Fp by a rolling load acts on the operating roll 5 of small diameter to the direction of the inlet side opposite to the offset of the intermediate roll 3. Consequently, the horizontal force Ft acting on the operating roll 5 of small diameter is canceled. |
