PURPOSE:To cool the base of a base material in a high-temp. state in the same manner as for the other three surfaces and to prevent the transverse crack at the time of hot rolling by providing a receiving stand which receives the base material in plural longitudinal positions in a heat treating chamber and disposing the injection ports of a cooling liquid injecting pipe on the rear surface of the receiving stand so as to face the base of the base material. CONSTITUTION:The base material A in a high-temp. state which is immersed in a flowing cooling liquid is received in a linear contact state by the receiving stand 18 in the plural positions nearly orthogonal with the longitudinal direction thereof. The cooling liquid is injected from the injection ports 23 of the cooling liquid injecting pipe 22 to the base of the base material A to remove the steam sticking to the base. The disturbance of a rapid cooling effect by the steam sticking to the base F of the base material A is, therefore, obviated and the contact of the base F of the base material A and the receiving surface 20 of the receiving stand 18 is a linear contact to minimize the parts where the spread of the cooling liquid is not possible. The thickness of the effect layer of the rapid cooling of the base F is thus made nearly the same about the thicknesses of the other three surfaces L, N, S and the generation of the transverse crack at the time of the hot rolling is completely obviated. |
