Synchronization of two reversible hydraulic motors 2, 3 suitable for actuating ship's stabilizers and connected in series with a reversible pump 1 is maintained by a fluid-pressure pulse generated by a piston mechanically linked by a lever to the leading motor e.g., piston 8 linked by 14 to motor 3 and which pulse is transmitted from a cylinder space 16 along a line 25 to lift a valve 26 in a branch line 27 of the pump delivery line 10 thereby admitting sufficient pressurized fluid to the inlet line 11 of motor 2 to advance the same. Motor 2 is linked by 13 to a piston 7 which when displaced to the right by virtue of anticlockwise movement of motor 2 and link 13 draws fluid into a cylinder chamber 15 from chamber 16 through line 25 and a non-return valve 22; the two motors being in unison. In the event of motor 3 lagging behind motor 2 during their anticlockwise rotation synchronization is not effected until the pump 1 has been reversed and motor 2 reaches its mid position during it rotation in a clockwise direction when motor 3 leads and displaces a piston 9 to the right which directs a pressure pulse to lift a valve 28 to relieve excess oil from line 11 to a return 24.</p> |
