PURPOSE:To improve the operability and to securely photograph with intended magnification by performing the photography with magnification set by a manual mode setting means even when setting by an automatic mode setting means is performed. CONSTITUTION:This camera is equipped with a focus varying device 4 which varies the focal length of a photographic optical system 3, a range finder 16 which measures the distance to a subject, the automatic mode setting means 15 which operates the device 4 so that even when the distance to the subject varies, the size of the subject in an image plane does not vary, the manual mode setting means 13 and 14 which operate the device 4 irrelevantly to variation in the subject distance, and a control means 11 which releases the operation of the means 15 in response to the setting of a manual mode. Then when desired magnification is selected by the means 13 and 14 even if the means 15 is set, the photography is carried out with the selected magnification as it is. Consequently, the need to reset the means 15 is eliminated and intended photography is securely performed. |
