A continuous web is woven having alternate parallel zones of different thermal insulating properties and the web is cut to produce several bed covers each having two of the different zones. The different thermal insulating properties may be achieved by using wefts of e.g. different twist levels, different denier, different bulk or different material. Where a jacquard mechanism is used a different weave may be formed in each zone. The covering is pref. of wool or acrylic fibres, and is used to cover a double bed sleeping two people having different warmth requirements.
|
