PURPOSE:To make it possible to continue further to trace a target even if it is moving at high speed by providing a distance between a target sampling gate and a guard gate for guarding signal handling and making the distace changeable in accordance to the speed of the target. CONSTITUTION:A pictorial image tracing device is constituted in which a guard gate for monitoring the state of handling is installed around the outer periphery of a target sampling gate that is for sampling targets, and when an external disturbance with contrast that is in the same degree as the target that is being traced comes in the range of the monitoring, the driving mechanism is driven in the conditions before the external distrubance came in, and the distance between the target sampling gate and the guard gate is changed in accordance with the traveling speed of the target. For example, vertical guard gates 19 (upper) and 20 (lower) that are used for the intrusion of external disturbances from the vertical direction and horizontal guard gates 21 (left) and 22 (right) that are used for the intrusion of external disturbances from the horizontal direction are provided. Further, a gate distance generating circuit 22 and a range setup circuit 24 in addition to a handling range setup circuit 4, external disturbance detector 8, column speed 9 are provided. |
