A pump for use in a sterile or clean room has an impeller (7) mounted on the shaft (3) of the driving motor (2). The impeller is enclosed in a housing (1) which is clamped to the housing plate (9). The housing plate is attached to a spacing ring (4) which is in turn attached to the flange (17) of the motor housing. The motor housing is filled with oil and has external ribs (16) to dissipate the heat generated by the motor. The motor cooling system does not depend upon a cooling fan or other devices for circulating cooling air. USE - The absence of a circulating air system obviates the risk of dust or germs being transported in the circulating air.
