Equipment for introducing air pressure into plastic tubing during the lay flat tube production process maintains a constant air volume within the processing section between the inlet and outlet rolls. An air injector is formed of a curved bow-shaped pipe with an angled nozzle and rotates about an orthogonal axis relative to the tube movement. The injector is attached to an air pressure line and by means of a contact device for the plastic tubing is linked to an operating switch. The switch operates an air valve which at a predetermined tube volume closes off the air supply and on reduction of the tube volume opens the air supply again. The injector pipe rotates under the effect of air outflow and moves in the same direction as the tube. Penetration of the injector nozzle into the tubing is achieved by overlapping the paths of the nozzle and the tubing. USE/ADVANTAGE - The equipment is used in the production of the lay flat plastic tubing and maintains a precise volume of air in the inflated tube between the inlet rolls and the flattening rolls at the end of the folding section.
