PURPOSE:To improve a vertical orientation rate by mixing and using hexagonal ferromagnetic powder which differs in mean grain size. CONSTITUTION:A base is coated with 80-95pts.wt. hexagonal ferromagnetic powder, such as fine grains of metal forming hexagonal crystal with 0.01-0.1mum mean grain size and hexagonal ferrite and 5-20pts.wt. hexagonal ferromagnetic powder having 0.2-0.4mum mean grain size together with a resin binder of a vinyl chloride-vinyl acetate copolymer, and an orientating treatment is carried out in a magnetic field perpendicular to the base surface, thus obtaining a magnetic recording medium. |
