PURPOSE:To form a printing image of high resolving power even to paper low in smoothness by providing a release layer on a support and successively laminating an ink layer having a specific composition and a fixability enhancing layer thereon. CONSTITUTION:A thermal transfer recording medium is constituted by providing a release layer based on wax with an m.p. of 50-90 deg.C on a support and successively laminating an ink layer based on a colorant, an ethylene/ethyl acrylate or vinyl acetate copolymer (ethylene content:70-90wt.%) having a melt index of 800-3000g/10min and a low m.p. straight chain saturated polyester resin represented by formula (I) or (II) and a fixability enhancing layer based on a resin with a glass transition point of 100 deg.C or more on said release layer. In the formulae, R1 and R2 are respectively independently a 2-18C straight chain saturated aliphatic hydrocarbon group and the number of carbon atoms of R1 and R2 is 8 or more in total, R3 is a straight chain saturated aliphatic hydrocarbon group and R4 is an ether-containing straight chain saturated aliphatic hydrocarbon group or a straight chain saturated aliphatic hydrocarbon group. |
