The device comprises a sleeve of piezoelectric foil, which is attached to part of the body (1), a sensor (2) is in direct contact with the skin (10) and detects fluctuations where the sleeve contacts the skin (11). These fluctuations are transmitted to a signal processor which transforms them into a useful signal indicative of blood pressure. Blood pressure may be measured over a single heart beat.
