Hydraulic multiple disc clutch

In a hydraulic clutch system the cylinder (3) clamps the plates (4) when supplied with fluid under pressure into the cylinder bore (8). A restriction orifice (9) limits the amount of fluid flowing into the enlarged area (10) and the distortion of the plate (4a) closes off the opening (3a) and radial groove (11), the clutch is thus engaged. When the pressure is released the plates (4)(4a) recover their initial position allowing a rapid fall in pressure and flow through orifice and groove.
