The sensing element at the accelerator pedal can project from the foot contact surface and responds easily to removal of pressure. The switch can also be designed as an electronic proximity switch. The accelerator can also have two pressure points, with light and hard settings, so that the second hard setting has to be overcome before supply of fuel commences. The switch circuit can be interlocked with the hand brake to prevent lighting up of the brake light when the vehicle is stationary. USE/ADVANTAGE - Traffic accidents reduced by removing time normally taken between driver's foot leaving accelerator pedal and applying to brake pedal before braking light is switched on.
