A safe electrical connector assembly is provided for engaging with a mating connector, either or both connectors terminating an electrical cable, the safe electrical connector assembly including an insulating housing and therein a male contact portion having a concentric non-conductive cap. The male contact portion is disposed within a passageway in the housing of an assembly, the cap and the restricted clearance between male contact and passageway cooperating to prevent dangerous exposure to electrical surfaces.
