PURPOSE:To obtain the transmittance variable plate which is low in cost and allows the easy formation to a large area by injecting an aq. soln. of a thermosensitive responsive compd. which is colored and decolored by temp. in a space interposed between two sheets of light transparent substrates facing each other. CONSTITUTION:Two glass sheets are used as the light transparent substrates 1, 2. Two sheets of the glass substrates are inserted into the front surface and back surface respectively of a frame 4 made of a stainless steel. A heater 5 and a cooler 6 are embedded in the frame 4. The aq. soln. 3 of the thermosensitive responsive compd. is injected into the space interposed between two sheets of the substrates 1, 2 to produce the transmittance variable plate. While the boundary temp. for the coloration and decoloration of this thermosensitive responsive compd. varies with the degree of polymn., the kind of functional groups or the concn. of the soln., etc., this temp. can be set in a 20 to 40 deg.C range in the case of polytetrahydrofuryl acrylamide.
