<p>The device for retaining particles consists of a plurality of tubes (18) which are arranged parallel to the fuel rods (14) of the assembly, in each of the interstices situated between adjacent fuel rods (14) and over the whole length of a region situated between the upper part of the bottom nozzle (2) and the lower part of the first spacer-grid (9), that is to say of the spacer grid arranged nearest to the bottom nozzle (2).
