<p>PURPOSE:To obtain high yield by connecting a stand by switching element and a signal line between a protection film which is isolated from a display medium and a substrate. CONSTITUTION:On the internal surface of an active matrix substrate, picture element electrodes 5, switching element 6, stant-by switching elements 7, scan ning lines 4, signal lines 4, and connection parts 25 are formed. At a connection part 25, the extended end 8a of the signal input terminal of the stand-by switching element 7 and branch wiring 8 branching from the signal line are connected electrically to each other by laser light irradiation and then a stand-by TFT7 and the signal line are connected electrically through the connection part 25. Further, a defective switching element 7 which is connected to the picture element 5 can be cut by light energy irradiation and disconnected from the picture element 5 when necessary. The cnnection part 25 is coated with the protection film 17, so no molten metal, etc., enters the display medium, whose characteristics do not deteriorate. Consequently, a picture element defect is corrected by using laser light and the manufacture yield can be improved.</p> |
