<p>PURPOSE:To restrain vibration of a linear cathode electrode in a short period of time by suspending a pipe-shaped member on a linear cathode electrode for regulating displacement of the linear cathode electrode only in its longitudinal direction. CONSTITUTION:An electron beam generating device includes a pipe-shaped member 8 of diameter larger than that of a linear cathode electrode 3 and a retaining member 9 disposed in such a manner as making contact with both end faces of the pipe-shaped member 8, and the linear cathode electrode 3 is suspended while passing the inside of the pipe-shaped member 8, and also displacement of the linear cathode electrode 3 in the longitudinal direction is regulated by the retaining member 9. In this case, the cycle of vibration of the linear cathode electrode 3 does not agree with the cycle of movement of the pipe-shaped member 8 when the linear cathode electrode 3 vibrates, and the electrode 3 and the member 8 collide with each other so that vibrational energy is dissipated. When the linear cathode electrode 3 vibrates, frictional forces act on the pipe-shaped member 8 so that a friction damping effect is produced. Vibration of the linear cathode electrode is thus restrained with simple constitution.</p> |
