PURPOSE: To obtain high sensitivity, low dark conductivity and high saturation electrification potential by using a polymer binder and a derivedα-type charge generating material produced by pulverizing a mixture of a copper phthalocyanine pigment and a squarylium pigment in a specified ratio to constitute a charge generating layer. CONSTITUTION: This photoreceptor consists of a conductive base body, a charge generating layer applied on the conductive base body, and a charge transporting layer applied on the charge generating layer. This charge generating layer consists of a polymer binder ando a derivedα-type charge generating materials prepared by pulverizing a mixture containing a copper phthalocyanine pigment and a squarylium pigment by 100:3 to 100:30 weight ratio. Thereby, the obtd. photoreceptor has low dark conductivity, high saturation electrification potential and high sensitivity for near infrared rays.
