PREPARATION OF L-TRYPTOPHAN

PURPOSE:To enable to repeatedly use an enzyme for a profitable preparation of L-tryptophane by subjecting indole and L-serine to an enzymatic reaction in the presence of a tryptophane synthetase in a two phase system using a specific solvent while repeatedly using the aqueous phase. CONSTITUTION:When indole and L-serine are reacted with each other in the presence of a tryptophane synthetase in a two-phase system comprising water and a fatty acid ester, citric acid ester or a mixture thereof insoluble in water but miscible with the indole to prepare L-tryptophane, the aqueous phase containing the tryptophane synthetase is recovered after reaction and subsequently repeatedly usable for the same reactions. The source for the tryptophane synthetase includes Escherichia coli MT-10232 (FERM BP-19) or Escherichia coli MT-10242 (FERM BP-20).
