PURPOSE:To allow the optimum curing of the oriented coating film by disposing the oriented coating film to face a hot plate, thereby heating the film from the surface side thereof. CONSTITUTION:A substrate assembly 34 is heat treated and rubbed to form the upper substrate assembly which is then combined with a lower substrate assembly to constitute a liquid crystal panel. The heat treatment is executed by disposing the substrate assembly in such a manner that the oriented coating film 30 faces downward, then by bringing the oriented coating film 30 into direct contact with the hot plate 20 and resting the assembly for 5 to 10 minutes on the hot plate 20. The oriented coating film 30 is heated not from the substrate side but from the surface 30a side thereof in such a manner and, therefore, the surface of the oriented coating film to suppress the influence of the heat on the color filters existing on the lower side of the oriented coating film is heated to the temp. optimum for the curing. The oriented coating film is well cured in this way with substantially no degradation in the transmittance of the color filters. |
