In a method of cleaning stables where a rotating, horizontally disposed drum is provided with tools for loosening up the dirt, manure and the like which are then absorbed by a conveying device which has a blower, a thorough and efficient cleaning is achieved without a blocking of the conveying device by dirt, manure or the like in that the dirt, the manure and the like are disintegrated when picked up.
