Method for filling drums with cooked solid food products, in a packaging liquid, which includes depositing a predetermined amount of the pieces of solid food products under gravity in a sterilised drum substantially without packaging liquid, then coupling the drum so that it is pressure tight with the liquid filling head, introducing pressurised vapour via this filling head and maintaining the vapour pressure inside the drum and the liquid filling head while the closing liquid is introduced into the drum, then applying airtight sealing to the base of the drum and later releasing the vapour pressure of the liquid filling head and removing the liquid filling head. <IMAGE>
