PURPOSE: To sustain the operation while minimizing deterioration of performance even upon failure of the circuit by a structure wherein the stator pole windings are excited through respective phase branches of an inverter and each of N phases is provided with K (>=2) stator pole windings. CONSTITUTION: Each stator pole winding is excited through a different phase branch of an inverter. For example, two inverters 60, 62 are employed. Each phase branch of respective inverters 60, 62 excites one stator pole winding, as shown on the drawing. More specifically, the first phase branches of the inverters 60, 62 excite stator pole windings 28a, 28b, the second phase branches excite stator pole windings 30a, 30b, and the third phase branches excite stator pole windings 32a, 32b. Consequently, each phase branch of respective inverters 60, 62 corresponds to one of three phases of the motor in an SRM 10. |
