PURPOSE: To sterilize and seal potentially infectious devices by adding an acrylate monomer-contg. liquid into a vessel in which these infectious devices are housed and effecting polymn. by an exothermic reaction. CONSTITUTION: The liquid contg. acryl monomer which can contain acrylate, its deriv., methacrylic acid and its deriv. acrylamide and its deriv. or the like is added to the vessel in which the potentially infectious devices are housed. The potentially infectious devices are waste, such as injection needles, syringes or the like used in hospitals and the possibility of indirect infection by vectors is of a problem. The monomer-contg. liquid is added to the vessel in such a manner that the potentially infectious devices may be sufficiently or at least partially enveloped. The liquid in then cured by the polymn. of the aq. acryl monomer under heat generation, by which the devices are immobilized, sterilized or the least neutralized. |
