The furniture item is in parts joined to each other by connecting fittings (5). Each of these comprises an oblong connector (10), fixed at one end in one of the parts (1). Its remaining portions (11,23) are accommodated in the other part (2,3), a peripheral groove (20) being formed in its end. A tapped tubular component (25,26) contains a transverse passage (27) accommodating the grooved part of the connector, and accommodates a clamping screw (30).
