<p>PURPOSE:To obtain a highly hygroscopic desiccating agent by a method wherein a sintering assistant consisting of clay mineral is added to the desiccating agent consisting mainly of zeolite to prepare a forming material, this forming material is shaped and sintered into a plate-like solid and this solid is covered with a moisture- permeable heat shrinkable synthetic resin film. CONSTITUTION:A forming material is prepd. by adding to a desiccating agent consisting mainly of zeolite a sintering assistant consisting of clay mineral such as bentonite, sepiolite, etc., in an amt. of 10-30wt.% A plate-like solid obtd. from the shaping and sintering of this forming material is covered with a moisture-permeable, pinholed heat shrinkable synthetic resin film. Since this method permits the preparation of a thin yet rigid plate-like desiccating agent into an identical size, this can be fed automatically into a packaging bag. It is also great in moisture absorbing capacity even at a low humidity, capable of removing the odor of hydrogen sulfide, ammonia, etc., free from corrosiveness and deliquescence, safe in use for foods and chemicals, easy to manufacture and inexpensive to mass produce. Furthermore, the subject desiccating agent can be prevented from breakage and damage in the case of mechanized packaging and its moisture permeability can be varied and its moisture absorption rate can be adjusted by changing the size or number of the film pinholes.</p> |
