Cryogenic power transmission cables - using fluorinated methane derivatives for cooling and insulation

The power transmission cables are cooled and insulated with fluorinated methane derivs. esp. CF4, CCl3F and CClF3. The cpds. have low m.pts., wide melting to boiling ranges, good breakdown strength and high thermal capacity. Al is the pref. conductor.
