PURPOSE:To stabilize the quality of a cooled steel plate by adding solid granules of a specified diameter or below to cooling water to obtain stable high cooling ability when a hot steel plate after rolling or a heated steel plate is cooled with a jet of water ejected from a nozzle or slit. CONSTITUTION:When a hot steel plate after rolling or a heated steel plate is cooled as mentioned above, solid granules of <=1mm diameter are added to cooling water. The solid granules added are required only to be suspended in water and may be granules of a polymer such is PE or polystyrene. The desired amt. of the solid granules added to cooling water is 0.1 to 1vol.%. Since the critical Reynolds number of the cooling water can be increased, high cooling ability not obtainable by the conventional cooling method can stably be obtd. |
