PURPOSE:To easily vary the steering assisting power quantity by measuring the torque applied onto a steering shaft by an electrically torque detecting means and controlling the hydraulic pressure applied onto a power cylinder by an electronically controlled flow control valve. CONSTITUTION:A rack 4 is shifted in the axial direction by the movement due to the hydraulic pressure of a power piston 6b of a power cylinder 6a, and a steering assisting force is provided, and an electrically torque detecting means 7 is installed midway onto a steering shaft 2. Further, an electronically controlled flow control valve 8 for selecting the flow path for the hydraulic pressure supplied into the power cylinder 6a and adjusting the inflow pressure is installed. The output signal of and electrically torque detecting means 7 is inputted into a control unit 9, together with the car speed signal (v) supplied from a car speed detecting means (not shown on the figure), and the magnitude and direction of the steering assisting force and determined, and the electronically controlled flow control valve 8 is controlled, and the inflow direction and inflow pressure of the hydraulic pressure supplied into the power cylinder 6a are controlled. |
