1281552 Finishing yarns ERNEST SCRAGG & SONS Ltd 18 March 1970 [20 March 1969] 14580/69 Heading D1F Apparatus for guiding yarn through tubular heaters in which the yarn is heated by radiation from the walls of the tube and by air in the tube which has been heated by contact with the walls, comprises a needle-type electrostatic charge eliminator positioned upstream of the heater inlet so as to provide a corona discharge (and therefore a zone of ionised air) which surrounds the yam path. The apparatus may be employed in or for post-treatment of crimped e.g. false-twisted and set, yarns. A condenser hood may enclose the inlet end of the heater and rest on a tray for collecting spin finish and lubricating oil fumes condensed on the relatively cool surface of the hood: a cover within the hood is connected to a duct fitted to a suction pipe to exhaust air and fumes from within the heater.
