The equipment protects trees against compacting of the ground, comprising a framework laid round the tree and supported from the ground at fixed points spaced apart. This consists of lengthwise and transverse struts (4) at regular intervals inside a frame (3), and on which load-bearing plates (12) are laid, covering the intervening spaces (5,9). There can be two mirror-image U-shaped frames, fitted together so as to leave a free space (7) in the middle for the tree trunk (8). ADVANTAGE - Prevents damage from passing or parked vehicles, while allowing sufficient air and water to reach roots.
