The subject of the present invention is a vehicle for inspecting, servicing, or reconditioning the inside of pipes 2, comprising at least one variable-elongation body 6, characterised in that the said body 6 consists of a retractable cell comprising a sprung bellows 6a fixed to two coaxial end flanges 6b, 6c and, around the said bellows 6a a deformable sleeve 25 fixed to the said flanges and, together with the said bellows 6a delimiting a chamber 19 into which the pressurised fluid is sent, and means 20, 26 associated with the said sleeve so that, under the pressure of the fluid, and simultaneously with the radial expansion of the sleeve 14, 15 and its bearing against the wall of the pipe, the cell 6 shrinks, the latter returning to its relaxed initial position under the effect of the said sprung bellows 6a as soon as the pressure of fluid inside the said chamber 19 is eliminated. A vehicle for example includes a cell 6 whose function is to cause the movement of the vehicle 1 in the pipe 2, and two other cells 7, 28 whose function is to immobilise the vehicle in the pipe. It finds its application for inspecting and servicing industrial pipes, particularly in the nuclear field. <IMAGE>
