摘要 The fluid is introduced between two vertical cylinders, which may be concentrically or eccentrically arranged, the inner one of which rotates about its axis. Sepn. takes . place at a membrane on the surface of the inner cylinder, the filtrate passing into the inner cylinder and the separated liqd. being drawn off through one of the end surfaces of the outer cylinder. Highly turbulent flow in the liq mixt. is produced by vanes, possibly in the form of ridges on the surface of the membrane on the inner cylinder. A membrane may also be provided on the inner surface of the outer cylinder. The liq passing into the inner cylinder may be drawn off through a hollow shaft. Variants having a circulation chamber inside the inner cylinder, -or a rotating outer cylinder, are also described. USE/ADVANTAGE - used in the separation of mixtures of liquids using a membrane as a separating surface. The system effectively limits the problems arising from the build up of a coating on the membrane surface encountered with existing separators.
