A PROCESS AND A SEWING MACHINE FOR SEWING LAYERS OF FABRICS TOGETHER ACCORDING TO A PATTERN

Any patterns of two layers of fabric are to be recognised by one camera each and the layers of fabric are to be laid out transversely and longitudinally to cover this pattern, where the effect of false values in the signals obtained induced by speed and limitations caused by the pattern are to be reduced. Laminar images of the two layers of fabric (7, 8) are made with one matrix camera (39, 45) each during a conveyor pause. The degree of coverage of the layers of fabric corresponding to the pattern is determined by the two-dimensional cross-relation analysis of the image points arranged in lines and columns. Directional correction values is calculated therefrom. The edge separation of the layers of fabric are detected by a section of the matrix sensors which is separate for assessment purposes. Using the edge separation data the lower layer of material (8) is continuously adjusted and the upper layer (7) adjusted when necessary to the exact distance. Taking account of minor inaccuracies and the limitation of the computing operation to the areas concerned only, the entire computing time may be considerably reduced.
