PURPOSE:To obtain the magnetic recording medium which has high floating stability and lessens head attraction by specifying the surface roughness of a glass substrate of the magnetic recording medium formed with a magnetic thin film on the glass substrate and the surface roughness of the medium surface. CONSTITUTION:A floating type magnetic head 10 successively has a substrate 20, an insulating layer 31, a lower magnetic pole layer 41, a gap layer 50, an insulating layer 33, a coil layer 60, an insulating layer 35, an upper magnetic pole layer 45, and a protective layer 70. The surface roughness Rmax of the glass substrate is specified to 40 to 80Angstrom and the surface roughness Rmax of the medium surface is specified to 80 to 150Angstrom . The recording medium which has the good floating stability with a low floating quantity and obviates the generation of attraction is obtd. in this way. |
