To provide a highly compact valve choke which can be reliably liquid-cooled and operates quietly even at high induction rates, with a choke core fitted inside a plastic bearing frame and a winding (primary winding 5) surrounding it on all sides at a distance from it, the choke core (1; 2) is surrounded on all sides by a noise-damping insulating capsule (3; 4) acting as the bearing frame which, in turn, is surrounded by the winding (primary winding 5). In one embodiment, the insulating capsule consists of two trouser-shaped insulated capsules (3 and 4) with their open ''legs'' facing one another and the ''waist'' apertures of which can be closed by a cover (31 and 41) after ther insertion of a U-shaped part core (1 and 2).
