<p>PURPOSE: To easily increase emission intensity by incorporating a higher percentage of zirconia than that in hafnia in a highly pure form into a hafnia phosphor host. CONSTITUTION: This X-ray intensifying screen has a substrate and a fluorescent layer consisting of monoclinic system crystals of a hafnia phosphor host, absorbing X-rays and capable of emitting electromagnetic waves as radiation of longer wavelength. In this screen, Zr ions exist in the hafnia phosphor host at a higher concn. than that in optical-grade hafnia, and this screen is characterized by the hafnia phosphor host contg. Zr on a higher level than that in optical-grade hafnia. The phosphor host consists preferably of hafnia contg. Hf and Zr ions and zirconia, and Hf and Zr in the host satisfy formula I (where 4×10<-4> <=z <=0.3). High emission intensity is ensured.</p> |
