Vacuum cleaner with optional bush assistance - has intermediate plate holding peripheral brushes lowered by pedal with simultaneous sealing of pedal mechanism

A vacuum cleaner intake housing (4) with central induction space (6) pipe coupling (8), support rollers (66) and suction base (10) has an intermediate brush carrying plate (16) with brushes (18) located around its periphery. A contra-motion of the suction base (10) and brush plate (16) is initiated by a foot pedal (26,28) and mechanism (30,32,34,38,40,50,58,62) working in conjunction with compression springs. Brush assisted sweeping occurs when section (28) of the pedal (26,28) is depressed since base (10) lifts and plate (16) falls, to bring brushes (18) into contact with floor whilst sealing gap between base (10) and plate (16). USE/ADVANTAGE - Provides increased cleaning efficiency due to brush assitance simultaneously preventing ingress of dust particles to pedal mechanism leading to jamming, experienced on earlier designs.
