This invention relates to a catheter-cum-balloon characterized in that the balloon is reinforced with composite yarns composed of elastic yarns and non-elastic ones which are each larger than the elastic one in free length. In the catheter-cum-balloon of the present invention, expandability of the balloon is high and thus, when inserted into or pulled out from the blood vessel for the purpose of therapy, the balloon is capable of not only decreasing in diameter without development of creases but also positively expanding to the same size and the same shape at any time. Accordingly, provided are such advantages that: reliability in therapy is increased; an opening incised for therapy, even if small, satisfies the purpose; treatment and care after operation are simple, requiring only a few length of time until cure; and the burden inflicted on the patient and nurse daily is light. |
