<p>PURPOSE:To switch magnetic tape devices optionally and use them by securing the occupation of a magnetic tape device when the magnetic tape device is assigned to an execution processing means and enabling the execution processing means to use a magnetic tape medium when the magnetic tape medium is opened. CONSTITUTION:When the execution processing means uses the magnetic tape medium, a magnetic tape device medium detecting means 4 retrieves a device medium identification table 7 generated by a device medium identifying means 1 to obtain the name of a magnetic tape medium required when the execution processing means carries on processing and the name of a magnetic tape device where the magnetic tape is loaded. The execution processing means obtains the magnetic tape device required to carry on the processing by a magnetic tape device obtaining means 5. Further, the magnetic tape medium obtaining means 6 opens the magnetic tape medium, which is enabled to be used by this execution processing means. Consequently, even when the execution processing means use plural magnetic tapes, only one device to be occupied is sufficient.</p> |
