PURPOSE:To raise the water resistance and printability of a lithographic original plate by providing the layer of a modified polyvinyl alcohol copolymerized with a specific acrylamide on a supporting base material. CONSTITUTION:Vinyl acetate is copolymerized with a specific acrylamide of the formula CH2=CR<1>CONHCH2O-R<2> (where R<1> is H or a lower alkyl, R<2> is H or an alkyl) in the presence of a radical polymerization initiator. Then, an alkaline catalyst is acted on an alcohol solution of the copolymer to partially so highly-saponify the vinyl ester unit of the copolymer, and the modified vinyl alcohol thus obtained is laminated on a supporter (e.g., plastic film, etc.). Then, a picture-receiving layer, a conductive layer, a back coat layer, etc., are orderly laminated on the modified vinyl alcohol layer to form a highly water-resistant layer. |
