PURPOSE:To preclude an error and such a phenomenon as the blurring of a contour by providing a high-pass filter, plural parallel processing channels, a means which interpolates scanning lines horizontally, a means which calculates mutual relation, pixel by pixel, and a vector selecting means. CONSTITUTION:Respective scanning lines of an input digital video signal is passed through the high-pass filter 10, and then the plural parallel processing channels are provided and passed through low-pass filters 11 at respective different levels. Video signals passed through the low-pass filters 11 are interpolated horizontally as to at least several channels. Then, the mutual relation is found, pixel by pixel, in a window for the respective channels, the mutual relation of the output having the maximum value is selected 18 finally, and a desired gradient vector is made to correspond. Consequently, the error and the phenomenon of the blurring of the contour are precluded. |
