A process of spinning with an open-end rotor, and which utilises a conical delivery passage for fibres, between the opening roller and the rotor, is provided on the inside with a series of length-wise narrow rounded ridges for a short distance along the narrow end of the passage, to improve the desired yarn structure. The top end of the conical passage where the fibres is delivered into the groove of the rotor, has a surface with identations for a short distance on the inside. Initially, a series of small grooves running parallel to the cylindrical shaped length, and lying close together, it is also proposed that this may follow the design of a rifle bore. This evolves further into a miscellany of grooves, flutes, fillets, and gullies with rounded ridges or flat surfaces between, with an assortment of shapes in the same circumference. USE - To arrange the fibres as they enter the rotor, in an improved formation and alignment, which results in a better quality of yarn.
