PURPOSE: To make the equipment compact and convenient in portability by adopting manual conveyance as document conveyance and compensating discontinuity and an unfixed speed which are caused in this manual conveyance for the document conveyance. CONSTITUTION: A 1st sensor 12 detects the conveyance distance of a document and detects its distance difference, and provides information on them for A conveyance distance detection part 13. When the output signal S1 of the conveyance distance detection part 13 is inputted to a 1st timer 14, the 1st timer enters a high state from the leading edge of the output signal S1 of the conveyance distance detection part 13 and also counts the cycle of a timeΔT1 . Then the timer changes to a low state and an exposure time is distributed uniformly to respective lines. An image signal processing part 18 converts only the output of a 2nd sensor 16 inputted while the output signal S4 of a 2nd timer 15 is high into a digital signal and then compensates distortion, noise, etc.
