PURPOSE:To prevent the production of a curious sound even when no code error is corrected and to avoid the sense of discontinuity by stopping the normal sound decoding processing so as to reproduce a pseudo background sound when the disabled error correction is detected. CONSTITUTION:A decoding section 109 detects a code error based on an error correction code added to a transmission code and a changeover control section 112 changes over the control into the pseudo background sound generating mode in the presence of a bit error. In this case, a newest background sound parameter is read from a parameter storage section 119 and a background sound reproducing section 121 reproduces a pseudo background sound. The output in this mode is not a decoded sound but a pseudo background sound 122. Thus, even when a bit error takes place in the transmission line and not corrected, the production of unpleasant curious sound is not caused and the sound preserving the quality of background sound is obtained, then the sense of utility is improved. |
