A liquid coating composition is provided which comprises, as a binder, a block copolymer of a particular carboxy-terminated polyester resin and an epoxy resin. The coating composition may also contain a curing agent for the hydroxyl groups of the binder, as well as a pigment. The coating compositions in accordance with the present invention display a good combination of properties and, in particular, excellent flexibility, making them especially well suited for use as a primer for metals.
